UNWHP is a voluntary independent movement founded in 2009 by Mr Benedict Twinomugisha with the goal of promoting health and workplace safety. Currently, the steering committee is comprised of members from different disciplines including Health promotion, Psychology, Medicine and Social science among others.

The network mainly targets both employees and employers in small enterprises to enable them minimise health and safety related hazards such as HIV/AIDS, workplace injuries, and occupational stress among others. The network has its secretariat in Kampala, Uganda.
