Valeriana Mayagaya
Ms. Valeriana Mayagaya is a medical entomologist. She holds an MSc in Applied Zoology (2010) and a BSc in Zoology and Wildlife Ecology and Conservation (2002) from the University of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.In her MSc, she conducted research on “The Impact of Livestock on the Ecology of Malaria Vectors and Malaria Transmission in the Kilombero Valley, Tanzania”. Over the years, Valeriana has been involved actively in various research projects, examples of which include Monitoring malaria vector population dynamics, distribution and transmission rate in Kilombero Valley and Dar es Salaam, Near infra-Red Spectroscopy for identification of age of semi-field and wild malaria vectors, Mosquito Contamination Device for sustainable malaria mosquito control, and Eave tubes/bricks for malaria elimination in peri-urban Tanzania.
