The department serves as a center for healthcare, research, education and training in haematology and blood transfusion (H&BT) in Tanzania. H&BT is a crosscutting discipline that underpins the provision of health care. It provides education and training at undergraduate level to doctors, nurses, pharmacists and medical laboratory officers.
