Amref Health Africa in Tanzania began partnering with communities to improve health in Tanzania in 1957.

In partnership with the Government of Tanzania and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Amref Health Africa has supported the development of national health policies and guidelines for equitable health service delivery.

Amref Health Africa in Tanzania has also helped to set up the department of community health, a malaria centre, and an environmental health program at the University of Dar es Salaam.
