About us

The National Institute of Public Health (INSP) was created by Decree No. 100/090 of May 30, 1991, but officially opened on November 26, 1999. It was born from the need to have within the country, institution health and human resources production at different levels of the health system with the capacity to generate, compile, analyze and disseminate the information and knowledge needed to make informed policy and policy decisions. When it started its activities in 1999, it had only two directions: the Directorate of Training and the Administrative and Financial Department.
In 2002, the Laboratories Directorate opened its doors to serve as a National Reference Laboratory for Public Health. In addition to biological analyzes, the laboratory performs quality control of the drugs and prepares to begin the quality control of the water. Finally, the Research and Epidemiology Department opened in 2006 to implement the 3 missions contained in the INSP's creation decree, namely training, health research, and biological and control analysis. the quality.
