Salum Azizi is a research scientist at the KCMUCo-PAMVERC where he has been a Project Manager since 2017. He is a current PhD fellow at the KCMUCo, and has MSc. Biology & Control of African Disease Vectors from Witwatersrand University and BSc. In Molecular Biology from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is also an active member of the Young East African Research Scientists (YEARS) and other professional organization such as American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) and Pan African Mosquito Control Association (PAMCA). His research interest lies in mosquito vector biology & resistance studies, and evaluation of vector control tools to fight mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria and arbovirus diseases. He has more than 13 years of experience in malaria research in evaluating Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) and Indoor Residual Sprayings (IRS) products at both laboratory and semi-field experiments. He has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines related to medical entomology, particularly vector control and insecticide evaluation and published several research and protocol papers in this field.
